AirportsPalm Beach International Airport, 25 miles north of Boca Raton, is the primary commercial passenger service airport in the northern portion of South Florida's metropolitan area. Just 20 miles south, you'll find Ft. Lauderdale / Hollywood International Airport, the state's fourth busiest airport, with 39 gates and serving nearly 9 million passengers annually. Miami International Airport, 48 miles south of Boca, houses 44 international carriers and runs direct flights to Europe and South America daily. The Boca Raton Airport is off Glades Road, in Boca. Covering 185 acres, Boca's airport is one of six high-activity general aviation airports in the metropolitan area. The airport serves as a general aviation reliever to Palm Beach International and provides airlines with a less costly and less congested operating environment. The 225 corporate and individually owned planes based here account for approximately 120,000 aircraft operations a year. RoadsThere are four Boca Raton exits off Interstate 95, which runs north-south, from NYC extending to Key West — Palmetto Park Road, Glades Road, Congress Avenue and Yamato Road. Another superhighway serving south Florida is the Florida Turnpike and the exit to Boca is at Glades Road. All airports are serviced by nationwide rental car companies, taxi & limousine services. WaterwaysThe Port of Miami has been dubbed the cruise capital of the world, accommodating more than two million cruise passengers a year. There are also duty free shops & cargo shipping. Port Everglades, just 30 minutes south of Boca Raton, in Ft. Lauderdale, and the deep water Port of Palm Beach, 30 minutes north of Boca, are other important destinations for cruise passengers. Private YachtOn the coast of the Atlantic ocean, and with the Intracoastal Waterway running through Boca, our community is easily accessed by private yacht. For marina slippage & facilities, see Anchorages. RailwaysAmtrak Rail Lines, offering nationwide passenger rail service, stop at Delray Beach and Deerfield Beach (either 10 miles north or south of Boca). There is rail freight service from Seaboard Coast Railroad and Florida East Coast Railorad lines. The commuter service called Tri-Rail serves the South Florida area, with operation from Mangonia Park (45th Street) to the Miami Airport Station. There is free Tri-Rail shuttle-bus service from most stations, free connections to country bus service and Metrorail service to downtown Miami. It also serves all three airports. The four-car trains, seating 162 passengers, are air-conditioned, and have restroom and disabled services. |
